A Tu B'Shvat Haggadah - A Ritual of Connecting to our Natural World, the Creator and Each Other.

Tu B’Shvat, often called the "Jewish New Year for Trees," is a celebration of nature, renewal, and our responsibility to the world around us. Originally, it was a legal marker - the end of the tax year for fruit trees, determining which harvests belonged to which tithing cycle. But over the centuries, it has blossomed into something much more. Today, Tu B’Shvat continues to evolve, standing as Judaism’s day of environmental awareness - a moment to reflect on our responsibility to protect and nurture the natural world.

This Tu B’Shvat Haggadah, curated by Rabbi Miriam Lorie sponsored by the Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance, invites you to explore the rich traditions, texts, and rituals of the holiday. As we turn these pages, we embrace Tu B’Shvat not only as a time for gratitude but as a call to action to nurture the earth as it nurtures us.

With gratitude to JOFA UK, Rabbi Marianne Novak, Adamah, and the many authors, texts, and traditions that have shaped this Haggadah and continue to inspire our practice today.
